Hazardous Area Risk Management

Fire and explosion can result in catastrophic consequences, causing serious injuries or fatalities, as well as significant damage to plant and property, therefore, Work Health and Safety Regulation (WHS) requires the business entities to manage risks to health and safety associated with hazardous areas atmospheres and ignition sources presented in these areas.

By correctly identifying the areas susceptible to fire or explosion, hazardous area classification (HAC) assists industries in reducing their chances of such incidents.  The hazardous area classification study is a life-cycle approach and should be conducted in the early stages of design, and maintained during the life of the asset until it is fully decommissioned.
